GIVING
The Way of Jesus is one of giving: of one's time, talent and treasures. We give as a way to contribute to the building of a better, more just and equitable community, locally and globally. Individually and collectively we contribute our time and skills and money to the Church and other organizations that seek to alleviate loneliness and poverty and other social challenges. In the Church we call this stewardship.

Stewardship invites us to ask how our faith in God, and our participation in building the realm of God, a just, loving and generous world impacts what we ourselves do, give, and spend, not just at Sackville United, but in all of your life.
Stewardship happens when those who are part of our community choose to volunteer time at local foodbanks, hospitals and outreach projects, when we use our financial offerings to support local mission and ministries of the congregation, and the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada. It also happens when we make ethical choices about retirement funds, investments and estate planning.
Local ministries include education and practical support for our children and adults, ministries with Seniors, Healing Pathway and Pastoral care ministries, and partnerships with local, national and international social justice organizations.
SackvilleUnited is a place where we try to live God’s shalom together, pooling our talents and resources to provide ministries for young-families on Sundays and throughout the week, quality life-giving ministries with Seniors; safe and affirming places for spiritual growth and healing, partnerships with local, national and international social justice organizations. Visited the various pages of this website and be amazed at how much this one congregation is doing to live God’s shalom!

Legacy Giving
Legacy giving includes gifts that are made from one's accumulated resources. Once bequests to family and other commitments are met, charitable legacies are included by many United Church members and adherents.

If you are considering a legacy gift to Sackville United Church, you can designate it specifically for the Investment Fund, the Mission and Service Fund, or for another specified purpose. Should you prefer to contribute an undesignated gift, with no conditions, it will form part of the Investment Fund.
Some options for planned giving include:
Bequests:
These are stated in one's Will and generate a charitable tax receipt for use by the Estate.
Gift Annuities:
A United Church Gift Annuity not only allows you to leave a gift to the church but provides you with an income for your lifetime. The income is mostly non-taxable and a one-time charitable receipt is issued for a portion of the annuity. A joint life annuity for you and your spouse can also be arranged.
Gifts of Shares:
When you make a gift of shares to Sackville United Church, your taxable capital gain is significantly reduced, however your charitable tax receipt is for the full value of the shares on the day they are received by the Church.
Gifts of Life Insurance:
You can donate an existing policy and receive a charitable tax receipt for its cash value. Alternatively, you can purchase a new policy, enabling you to make a large gift to the Church in the future for a relatively small cost now. You receive a charitable tax receipt for the premiums you pay.

The Care of Gifts Received
Sackville United Church has been engaged in the ministry of Jesus Christ for many years. This rich faith inheritance out of which we all live was made possible by the faithful witness and generosity of those who have gone before us. It is now our turn to help those who come after us. Legacy Giving is the way to do just that.
Gifts received as Legacy Gifts are managed by the Trustees following the Investment Policy as adopted by the Congregation.
The principal of such gifts is not intended to be used for ongoing operating expenses. Rather, these become a separate source of funds that are used to support and enhance the mission, ministry and engagement of Sackville United Church in the larger community
