Musings... On Annual Meetings

Writer: Lloyd BruceLloyd Bruce

This Sunday Sackville United Church and Central United Church will do as Visions United Church did last Sunday and hold their Annual Congregational Meeting, looking back on the year past and ahead to ministry that lies before.

This year will mark 34 years of Annual Congregational Meetings for me, and they never get any less important. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for the community of faith to recognize and acknowledge what was accomplished in the year past and all those who made that ministry possible. It is also an opportunity for the gathered community to discern and commit to a vision for the year ahead.

Your congregation needs your participation and support. Please consider letting your name stand for nomination to the governing body or one of the circles of service or Committees of your community of faith.

Faithfully

Lloyd Bruce

Looking Ahead

Sorry for the delay. Monday was a full day of meetings and pastoral visits and today is more of the same with three meetings this morning, a pastoral gathering over lunch and three more meetings this afternoon.

I am taking Wednesday morning to attend to some personal matters and the afternoon will be devoted to crafting a reflection for Sunday – my first sermon at Sackville United Church in months!

Following the last cultivating hope gathering on Thursday morning, I will be in Moncton on Thursday for visits at the hospitals and two scheduled pastoral visits and two meetings with colleagues.

Friday and Saturday will be days off. Julia is back from Study Leave and will offer leadership at Central United Church and I will be at Sackville United Church. Tudy Colpitts is offering leadership at Visions United Church. As above, following the Sunday Gatherings at Central and Sackville United Churches, those congregations will be hosting their Annual Meetings.
